Every move you make is precisely tracked and transmitted to an onboard or remote computer which instantly controls what you see, hear and feel including resistance to movement. From virtual war games to virtual sports or therapy, this is where ForceTek USA wants to take the world through the introduction of the new XIO™ Virtual Gaming System. Starting with an arm exoskeleton to be debuted at E3 2010, XIO™ (pronounced Zee-Oh) could take video gaming to the ultimate level, combining 3D position detection and multiple area play with physical feedback.
Over 10 years in development and several patents, XIO™ is unlike plug-in console technology or other peripheral equipment designed to work with existing game platforms. XIO™ uses technology developed in the sports training and physical rehabilitation fields to provide the player with different responses based on the player’s body position, speed of movement, and other sensed data. In addition to audio and visual responses, XIO™ provides a controlled resistance to movement and other stimuli to provide realism to the action. This not only lets players feel as if they are actually performing the function, but also helps reinforce the correct muscle pattern for the activity being simulated.
